Workshop on Surveying and Documentation for Heritage Conservation:
The Case of Zekate House in Gjirokastra, Albania

This workshop represents a significant initiative within the Ministry of Culture of Albania's "100 Fshatrat" project, focusing on the conservation and documentation of Zekate House, a UNESCO-listed monument located in Gjirokastra, Albania. Zekate House stands as an example of Ottoman architecture and embodies cultural heritage of immeasurable value to the region and the country.
The primary objective of the workshop was to introduce and train in the initial phases of architectural surveying. This early phase of the project involved analysis of the building's historical significance, direct measurements, and the first step of use in advanced surveying tools, documenting every detail through precise measurements and technical drawings. The gathered information was subsequently transformed into detailed plans and sections accurately representing the work done for the first floor of the building, with special attention to the main facade. The outcome of this workshop is not only the final documentation product but also the acquisition of critical skills in the field of heritage conservation.
